5 Tips for Wearing a Vintage Dress

A few days ago my mother and I went to 3 Emmaus shops, and we focused on the dresses as she was looking for them. Obviously, she found coats, glasses, books but no dress in the first shop because it's always a bit like that when looking for something specific no? Finally, we found a nice dress in the second shop, and I will give you my tips on the theme of the vintage dress.

1.Shop Purchase
The ideal in my eyes is to go to a thrift shop or a solidarity shop. You will find in all cities so for once it's not reserved for Parisian. On my side, my favorites are the Emmaus shops because you can find everything. So you can find a pretty dress, but also a little retro porcelain or novels pasionnants in very good condition ... while doing a good action.

At the moment I'm often listening to the Chiffon podcast on fashion, and I noticed that all the stylish young women interviewed said they were giving the clothes they wanted to separate ... Emmaus! These shops are full of real nuggets, and the last ones I went were very well presented, the unpleasant smell of thrift stores less.

2.Buy online
However,  if you do not have this type of shop nearby, or just do not want to go there, you can buy online. There is the well-known second-hand market on Banggood or on various vacuum-dressing sites ( Vestiaire Collective, Vide-dressing ...) but you can also find new vintage-inspired dresses with a vintage spirit. I know that some people do not support the idea of buying clothes that have already lived, and that can be understood.

I went around a few sites and I had a crush on a beautiful retro-vintage woman's dress at American Vintage. I liked the print, the strong colors ... The dress makes the look all by itself!

To accessorize it I love the idea of a male coat and flat boots (but not rain boots as above). Better not to go into the total retro look (shoes and belted trench) at the risk of being disguised ... unless you have the pin-up look every day. Here are the accessories that I advise precisely.

3.Accessories
The idea is to calm the game because the vintage and retro dresses are very feminine/ colorful/strong.
With a typical vintage dress (marked at the waist, flared, knee-length) like this:
I recommend a camel coat right, very current (Pimkie in this case):
And boots velvet and wooden heel, charm crazy (do not crack).

4. Makeup
I would recommend the line of eyeliner that comes back in strength and adapts to all styles, but without going into the caricature of the pin-up with the fly at the corner of the mouth and red lips. I would rather see him with natural lips and a nice complexion worked in lightness :

Regarding the eyeliner, I finally found my happiness with the classic from Sephora, very easy to handle and that makes a nice feature. It has a black intense and it costs less than 11 euros, what more?

5.The hairstyle
Of course, everything is allowed and fashion is a game. But with such a feminine dress, I would opt for detached hair, with the blur cleverly mastered.

These are just suggestions, but I liked to imagine a look around a style of clothing! Do you like the idea? Now I just have to find a vintage dress to put this in application ... And I must say that the American Vintage dress tempts me a lot.
